There was a phrase and even a bumper sticker a few years ago, that said, “What Would Jesus Do?” or WWJD. Today I think that phrase needs some adjustment to JWDT otherwise known as “Jesus Wouldn’t Do That.”
I am not sure about you, but I wonder how much I’m following my Lord. How am I (daily) living like Jesus? God has not changed. God is the same today and yesterday. So if yesterday Jesus said to forgive others, to tell the truth, to be careful not to worship money, to give to the poor. Shouldn’t we be doing that today?
I look at our world leaders and wonder if Jesus would do that. The answer is often, “No, He wouldn’t.” I can choose to lament the demise of democracy, freedom, kindness, caring, respect, compassion and love…or I can do the opposite when I see so many cases where Jesus Wouldn’t Do That.
I can love my neighbor, care for the poor, stand firm in my faith and share compassion in our hurting world. That’s my choice. As a follower of the way of Jesus, I can make a difference by doing what Jesus would do today. Jesus is the light of the world, and no darkness can enter there.
Shine brightly, my friends. That is what Jesus did yesterday and still does today through you. How will you be the light on the hill in our dark and hurting world? I would love to hear your thoughts. My email is at the top of the page.
Blessings and Peace,
