This post is written for the Five Minute Friday Link Up. The word for today is “Well.”
Wells hold water and in ancient days, a woman walked to a well during a particularly hot time of day. It was obvious she was weary and tired and longed for water that would never run dry. She may have dreamed about not having to walk down that dusty road each day at noon. Jesus offers us the same thing He offered her. Living water.
The key to the living water is drawing near. One must reach into the well and spend time drawing the water out of the well. It is important to spend time each day refilling in God’s word and in prayer if we want to be full of the water that never runs out.
When too many projects, or meetings or appointments or email responses have made your path a choking, dusty road; draw near to God and He will draw near to you. (James 4:8) God will fill you up again. God desires your presence and welcomes your company.
Jesus went up into the hills repeatedly. He got away from the crowds and the pressing (literally!) agenda of serving others in order to be with His father. To refill our well, we must do the same.
