My husband and I caught a glimpse of the purple flower at the same time. I had no clue what kind of flower it was, but I knew I wanted it for my patio area. The color was gorgeous! I set the plant in our cart as we listened to the garden employee explain what it needed to survive. I wanted to make sure I did everything I could to keep the plant from dying. The temperatures were in the triple digits and I knew the plants on my patio were at risk in the unbearable heat. When we got home, we placed the plant in partial sun & shade per the garden employee instructions.
Gorgeous purple flowers continued to show their regal color until one day…they didn’t. It was a scorching hot day, so I watered it thoroughly the next morning. The plant stood tall as the thirsty roots soaked up the cool water. Then I heard God whisper, “As this plant needs to soak in water to thrive, so too you need to soak in Me to thrive.” Wow! If you read my last blog post, you know my spiritual life was equal to a desert. My schedule took over and by the time I realized what happened, my spiritual life had wilted.
None of us can sustain our spiritual life unless we soak in God through God’s Word and fellowship. Don’t let your busy schedule or other life obligations wilt your spiritual life. I encourage you to spend time with God, soak in the Word and know that by doing so, you will not only survive, you will thrive.
