I wrote this in my journal this morning, “God is doing a new thing. He is re-calibrating people’s lives, resetting their priorities.” I then prayed for patience through these current trials, for healing and wisdom. I turned to my devotional book and Romans 9:22-23 was the focus for study.
What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath—prepared for destruction? What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory.
God answered my prayer for wisdom. God in his great mercy is being patient with us. He is giving all of us another chance to reset our priorities. We must no longer worship money or worldly things, but turn to God who is our help in times of trouble. He is saying, “Turn around, go a new direction, trust in ME.”
This world is passing away, but God is always with us.
God whispers, “Peace is not in the fix or cure, peace is in the Knowing. Knowing that I will never leave you nor forsake you. Knowing that I have not turned my face from you, I have turned toward you. Mercy and grace are here, right now. I am being merciful to those who do not deserve mercy. I am reaching out my hand, longing for you to grasp hold. I am weeping over you, my sweet Jerusalem. Come home. Come home. Turn to Me, not to the world. Come to Me, not to another. I am yours, and you are Mine.
Yes, I am being patient even with those who are not yet mine. I long for you—my heart aches for you and now is the time to turn your face toward mine. I am here. So very close—my hand outstretched in mercy.”
